How does Part D work?
- You pay premium and part of your prescription drug costs
- The amount you pay out of the pocket depends on your plan
- Part D covers most outpatient prescriptions drugs
- Part D also covers certain vaccines that aren’t covered by Part B
How do I get Part D?
- You can get Part D as a stand-alone plan if you have Medicare Part A and/or Part B.
- You can also get Part D as part of a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C)
When should I enroll?
- You should enroll in Part D when you are eligible to receive Medicare unless you qualify for exception to the rule
- If you do not qualify for an exception to enroll in Part D, you may have to pay 1% for each month you are without coverage
